Introduction

TSK Group of Nursing Institutions under Tavitiki Suguna Kumar Memorial Charitable Trust and its head office on 7-3-48/5, Vaidyanagar, Kakinada, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh, India. The main aims and objectives of establishing the college are to give four (4yrs) Degree courses in B.Sc Nursing and general Nursing Midwifery Course (3Yrs) is geared to the health needs of the individual, family, community and the Country at large which should be based on sound educational principles. The general objectives of the course are to assess the nursing needs of individuals, families and communities throughout life from birth to death, plan appropriate action to meet their needs through competent safe nursing care to take appropriate action to help people retain or sustain their best possible level of health in all its aspects, work with other members of the health team and community in the promotion of health, prevention of illness, restoration of health and rehabilitation. 

Kakinada, a coastal district of Andhra Pradesh is a well-planned town. There is a number of educational institutions including Medical Colleges, Engineering Colleges in and around the town. Industrially it is growing very fast and major industries like Godavari Fertilizers, and Nagarjuna Fertilizers are situated in the town. Export and Import business is increasing day by day from Kakinada port. Important pilgrimage centres like Annavaram, Draksharama, Kotipally etc., are just 30-40 square KM from the town. Since the location of the S.K. College of Nursing is just away from the town, the place is very calm and quiet and there is neither noise nor pollution in the zone. And the area is a geographical location with all natural idyllic settings and wonderful weather conditions.

Management

The management of TSK Group of Nursing Institutions is blended with rich experience and expertise in running educational institution, training schools and hostels since a long time with missionary zeal.
The founder President/Correspondent, Mr. Tavitiki Suguna Kumar is a social worker and has got vast experience in running schools and colleges. The aim of the management is to develop a sense of commitment and strives for improvement of the student personally and professionally through continuous learning. And also develops cognitive, affective and psychomotor competencies required for providing primary health care scientifically and independently to the individuals, families and the community at arge. The main objective of the society is to establish educational institutions in India, where men and women shall receive and education of the highest grade in the art and science of Medicine and of Nursing of in one or other of the related professions, to equip them in the spirit of institution is “NOT TO BE MINISTERD UNTO, BUT TO MINSTER” (MATTHEW: 20-28) and are faithfully obeying the command “TAKE THIS CHILD AWAY AND NURSE IT FOR ME AND I WILL GIVE THEE THY WAGES”. (EXO: 2-9)

Faculty

Teachers are leaders, and hold the power to mould young impressionable minds. Our faculty is deft at dealing with young energy in all it's nuances, and in molding minds into well-honed professionals. However, we inspire and guide, and let the essence of our students shine through their individuality, Guest lecturers who are industry experts are invited for lectures on a timely basis, to give students amply exposure into real world practices.

Staff Development Program

Learning is a lifelong process. Teachers at our institution are encouraged to be students from time to time, and attend conference and workshops regularly. This ensures that one's knowledge is constantly updated and we are in close contact with the who's who of the industry, we also present research papers at national seminars. Core activities - journal clubs, paper presentations, research activities! Training programs is a round the year activity for the staff to teach one must be in the mind of the learner, and the pointof SDP is just this!

CNE- Continuing Nursing Education

Workshops are a hands on learning experience. There are three workshops per year. Speakers at these workshops are renowned, and the workshops are conducted by the college, Institution and alumni!

Guest Lecture

Guest lecturers speak every two months and address the faculty of the Nursing institute. This is a part of the process of expansion, an initiative we will always be a part of at the Nursing College

Journal Club

To instigate discussion and debate leads to progress, and hence journal club meetings are held once in two months by faculty. Conflict is the road to change, and at journal clubs all the current trends in health care and technology are put forth to be debated upon. This induces new directions in thought and awareness

Ward Training Program

Ward teaching programs are conducted every month. These promote healthy teaching practices amongst the staff

Infrastructure

Environment is so crucial in imparting quality education We have state of the art equipment and facilities that enable advanced learning and research. There are 5 floors spread over 5 acres of land surrounded by nature. The classrooms are well equipped. There is a library, laboratory, A.V. Halls, a Computer Lab and high speed internet connectivity. The campus is sprawling with specific areas for student activity. The hostels are well organized and we have a canteen which is typical of a student friendly eat out.

Conferences

Association is crucial to change, and so the faculty are encouraged to attend national and international seminars. This is to induce a feeling of team work, and to interact with members of the community. Widening horizons happens through association alone!

Lecture Halls

Each lecture hall can accommodate 150 students. Each classroom has Audio visual aids such as OHP and LCD to enhance learning. Students are also trained in mentorship.
